WHAT IS MEDICAL CANNABIS?
Cannabis originates from the flowing plants in the family Cannabaceae, mostly known as hemp. The plant is supposed to contain active substances that in contact with receptors in the cell wall creates a lot of operative instructions / functions in the body.
Cannabis has been used in medicine for 6,000 years, and the range of conditions that are addressed by medical use of cannabis by patients is wide
These signals contribute to establish an even balance in the body also called homeostasis. Research has shown that dysfunctions of mechanical and non-mechanical functions in the body often are due to a deterioration in the body’s balance system.
The cannabis plant contains many different active substances called “Cannabinoids”. The commonly known cannabinoids are CBD (Cannabidiol) And THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol). Unlike THC, CBD is not a psychoactive substance but operates mainly with the physiology and does not have a euphoric effect. THC, on the other hand, is a psychoactive substance that contributes to chemical compounds in the neuropathic field.
Today, medicinal cannabis is a catch-all term for anything from dried cannabis flowers, cannabis oils, capsules, tablets, oromucosal spray and so on. But common to all these products types is that they contain either parts of the cannabis plant, active substances from the plant or synthetic cannabinoids, and that they are used to alleviate illness.
